Department Information
The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
Job Information
Located in Inuvik, the NDL Program Coordinator reports to the Manager of Northern Distance Learning and is responsible for managing and coordinating the development, implementation, in-service and evaluation of NDL programming and services across participating schools in the NWT. This position is also tasked with managing and coordinating ongoing program requirements and leading the research and development of increased program offerings, including asynchronous and personalized learning options.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding if distance learning principles within the blended and online learning field
- Knowledge of and/or the ability to acquire knowledge of departmental philosophy, curricula, directives, policies and approaches, and model best practices as described in documents issued by the department
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, pedagogy, and instructional leadership
- Ability to understand NWT Indigenous cultures and educational history in order to incorporate traditional knowledge and worldviews into all aspects of the work
- Ability to understand the impacts that colonization, instructional and structural racism and biases have had on society, in particular Indigenous people
- Written communication skills for a variety of areas including Ministerial and departmental briefing notes and correspondence, policy, and curriculum documents
- Coordination, facilitation and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a variety of diverse cultural and community contexts, including working with Elders and community cultural resource people
- Ability to build strong relationships and work directly with people from other communities while incorporating their perspectives in decision-making processes
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Diploma in Education, Business Administration, or related field, and two (2) years of related experience, including online learning or technology management experience.

The salary for this position starts at $48.59 per hour (approximately $94,750.50 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,699.00
