Shine the Light Campaign: Let’s Light Up the Town in Purple!

On November 15th, the Domes at the Legislative Assembly will be lit in purple to support the Shine the Light on Woman Abuse campaign. Created by the London Abused Women’s Centre, this campaign started as a small community effort in 2010 and has now grown internationally, lighting communities across the globe in purple and raising awareness about men’s violence against women and supporting survivors.

This November, the Status of Women Council of the NWT invites everyone to join us in lighting up the town in purple. Wear purple, light a candle, or display a purple ribbon to show support and help spread the message that any shame or blame belongs to the abuser, not the survivor.

The Status of Women Council will be distributing purple ribbons and candles—let’s turn our community purple together!
