A large truck with a snowplow on its front fell through the ice on Sunday afternoon while plowing a road along the backside of Joliffe Island.
When EDGE arrived on the scene around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the truck, which appears to belong to Aurora Telecom Services Ltd., was half-submerged, with its front wheels still on the ice, but the bed of the truck largely filled with icy water. The site was cordoned off with temporary fencing.
Initially, there was no one attending to the vehicle. However personnel from the the department of Environment and Natural Resources showed up after several minutes to assess the scene.
We’ll update the story once more details are available.
