RCMP made two “significant” drug seizures last week in Yellowknife and on the road near Fort Providence. Six people have been charged, including a 77-year-old.
On Friday afternoon, RCMP found 177 grams of crack cocaine, 907 grams of marijuana and in excess of $6,000 cash, while searching a residence on Hamilton Drive. Six adults and one youth were arrested inside the residence.
“Twenty-one year old Quinn Beaver of Edmonton AB, fifty-nine year old Ambrose JOBIN of Yellowknife NT, twenty-four year old Shermarke ABDI of Edmonton AB, and a youth are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime,“ reads the release. “Next court date is scheduled for March 22, 2016 in Yellowknife. “
Also on Friday, RCMP seized “1.7 kilograms of cocaine, 5.4 kilograms marihuana, 5 litres of liquid codeine, and 85 grams of a substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine or MDMA” at a traffic stop on the highway near Fort Providence.
“Fifty-five year old Mary Anne Lafferty and seventy-seven year old Vitaline Lafferty have been charged with the possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both have been released before a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date. A 2014 Ford Escape was also seized by police, as it is believed to be Offence Related Property, and subject to forfeiture.”
