The man accused of murdering one man and maiming another in a high-profile attack that took place in Yellowknife in December 2014 appeared in court yesterday on a separate robbery charge.
Along with the murder charge, Denecho Noel King is also accused of robbing a taxi in late February of last year. Yesterday’s appearance was the first day of a several-day preliminary inquiry (which tests the evidence before the issue officially goes to trial) into the robbery. A publication ban has been placed on the evidence presented in the inquiry.
He’ll be back in court on January 22. His separate trial for murder is set to continue on Feb. 16, when King is set to plead guilty or not guilty to killing John Wifladt and leaving Colin Digness with one eye.
